Season Preview

Dave Aranda has to replace Matt Rhule after he decided to head to the NFL. Aranda is fresh of a championship as the DC at LSU and looks to continue his winning ways.

Aranda is one of the better defensive minds in college football. While everyone was surrounded by Joe Burrow news and hype, the LSU defense was almost equally as impressive. Now at Baylor, Aranda has his work cut out for him. The Bears defense was at the top of the Big 12 in 2019 but only return two starters in 2020, Terrel Bernard and Raleigh Texada. The defense could be looking at a major step back just because of the system change and massive turnover.

Charlie Brewer is back as one of the top QBs in the conference. His biggest issue will be staying healthy. Brewer has struggled with injuries throughout his career and the offensive line hasn’t help. Baylor needs to find a way to keep him upright if they want a chance at making another run.

Year one under Aranda will likely be a rough one at times. There is a lot to replace and install in a year that has been strange enough. Now with the lack of face time with his team, Aranda will have to adjust on the fly and try to make things work.
