Big 12 2020 Preview

8. Kansas State

Projected record – 6-6

Season preview

The writers at Saturday Tailgate had Kansas State a bit lower than some other websites. The biggest reason was the turnover.

The Wildcats will have to replace their offensive line and most of their defensive line. While Wyatt Hubert is a budding star, there isn’t much else to pair him with. Chris Klieman tried to fix this issue by bringing in numbers. If one or two of these JUCO defensive linemen can hit, this could become a position of strength.

The offense will be fortunate to have Skylar Thompson back at QB as well as a strong receiving core. Josh Youngblood and Malik Knowles should form a solid duo.

The defense may be lacking experience on the line. But they have a solid linebacking group and secondary. With most of Kansas State games against middle of the pack conference opponents on the road, it could be a tough year. Chris Klieman is on the rise, but only returning nine starters and five most big games on the road could prove to be too much in 2020.
