Wyatt Hubert is a budding superstar. After finishing 2019 as first team All-Big 12, the 2020 season should be even better. Unfortunately, the defensive line also lost almost as much as the offensive line. Reggie Walker, Trey Dishon and Jordan Mittie need to be replaced from 2019. While it is definitely a big question, Chris Klieman addressed the issue with numbers. If a few of those JUCO defensive linemen can work out and make an impact, it could change the view of the unit as a whole. With someone as talented as Hubert, he will draw plenty of extra attention and help the rest thrive. If Kansas State can find another guy to compliment Wyatt Hubert, this unit will become a strength instead of a question mark.
The linebackers are another unit with a strong player in Justin Hughes. He has had enough time to recover after missing 2019 with an injury. However, questions will always loom around a guy that missed an entire season. If Hughes can get up to speed and build off a strong 2018 season, he can help make the Kansas State defense one of the better units in the Big 12. Elijah Sullivan will also be an excellent compliment to Hughes at linebacker and should make this one of the stronger units on the team.
The secondary also has their fair share of questions as they need to replace Goolsby and McGee. It was the strength of Kansas State last season as they only allowed 202 passing yards per game.
