Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge started playing football as a junior at Jefferson High School in the 2019-2020. Despite receiving offers to play basketball in the PAC-12, Rawlins-Kibonge wanted to continue his education while playing football.
Rawlins-Kibonge tallied 44 solo tackles and 74 total tackles in the 2019-2020 season. After watching his highlights, it’s evident he is raw but show’s great potential. His size, athleticism, and explosiveness should fit right in with Grinch’s Speed D.
Rawlins-Kibonge chose Oklahoma over Stanford, Washington State, Arizona State, and others. Despite only playing one year of football in high school, Rawlins-Kibonge was a hot commodity, particularly among PAC-12 schools.
His landing in Oklahoma was no fluke, this is a testament to OU’s relatively new hire Jamar Cain. Cain’s recruiting abilities and ties to the PAC-12/Pacific Northwest are already proving to be a useful tool for the Sooners. We should also give Alex Grinch some credit for – in one year – developing a defense that’s enticing to high level recruits.
The 6-foot-7 240lbs defensive end is the no. 21 SDE in thenation and no. 2 recruit out of Oregon in the 2021 class according to 247Sports. This is the Sooners’ 2nd SDE commit and 9th overall commit in 2021.
