Former Alabama WR Chadarius Townsend announced via Instagram he is headed to Texas Tech. Townsend entered the portal last week.
Townsend came out of high school as a 4-star ATH. He did not see much action at Alabama and bounced around at multiple positions, which explains the transfer. He redshirted in 2017, then spent most of 2018 on special teams. In 2019, he registered eight carries for 22 yards as a RB.
The 6-foot, 195-pound WR should be immediately eligible at Texas Tech. It will be interesting to see if he competes for a WR spot, or jumps to RB. Tech currently has 2 scholarship RBs, so it’s possible Townsend could use his experience as a RB with Bama to fill out Texas Tech’s RB corps.
