Oklahoma State has continued its incredible recruiting cycle for the class of 2021 by securing the commitment of 3-Star athlete Makale Smith. Smith, a product of Midwest City High School in Oklahoma City, was recruited as a defensive back.
Tale of the Tape
Smith, the no. 84 athlete in the class of 2021, is 6-foot-0 and weighs 165 pounds. He was recruited out of high school with offers from Oklahoma State, Air Force, New Mexico, and Oregon State.
Smith is a two-sport athlete, also starring as a basketball player for Midwest City and multiple AAU programs. He is considered a top player in his class in Oklahoma.
Close to Home
In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, Smith explained that location was extremely important in his college decision. He knew, above everything else, that he wanted to stay close to home.
“Really, I just wanted to stay home and go to OSU or OU,” Smith said. “And I felt that I was more comfortable at OSU, so I decided to commit.”
Future of the Cowboys
Smith takes his place in an absolutely loaded class of 2021 for the Cowboys, who have already landed 11 commits. Makale Smith is the second athlete in the class, along with Cam Smith, a 3-Star prospect out of Braswell High School in Denton, Texas.
Smith plays corner and wide receiver at Midwest City. He was recruited as a DB because Oklahoma State already cleaned up on receivers. The Cowboys secured three top receiver prospects for 2021, including 4-Star Bryson Green out of Allen, Texas.
Interestingly, Smith is friendly with another Oklahoma State class of 2021 commit, 3-Star wideout Jaden Bray from Norman, Okla. The two have gotten to know each other through the high school basketball circuit.
