Despite not going with Joe Burrow as his starter, Urban Meyer supports Burrow and believes he has what it takes for the NFL.
Urban Meyer recently spoke with Buddy Martin of Gator Bait Media and Burrow was one of many topics. When asked about Burrow’s potential Meyer was optimistic, “I think he’s and going to be great. He’s got all the intangibles of toughness and leadership.”. He also commented on his transfer from Ohio State and their relationship, “He was a multi-sport athlete who was a little behind in his development when Tom Herman found him. And then he broke his hand. But he graduated and decided to transfer, – and we supported his decision. We are still very close.”
For those of you that don’t know, Burrow originally committed and started his CFB career with Ohio State. After red shirting his first year at Ohio State in 2015, Joe Burrow spent the next two years as J.T. Barret’s back up. Over the two years, he played in 10 games, completing 29 of 39 passes for 287 yards and two touchdowns. With the addition of Dwayne Haskins to Ohio State in 2018, he decided to transfer to LSU and the rest was history.
While Meyer is constantly dogged for the shady things he and his staff – cough* Zach Smith cough* – has done, its good to see Meyer showing support for a former player.
