Dorell’s ties to Colorado go back to the 90’s when he served as the program’s receivers coach in 1992–93 and as offensive coordinator from 1995–98. He is also familiar with the PAC-12 as he was UCLA’s head coach from 2003–07, compiling a 35–27 record during his tenure. During that time, he was named the Pac-10 Coach of the Year in 2005.

More Recently, Karl Dorrell acted as a wide recievers or QBs coach on various NFL teams, Although he did have a stint in Vanderbilt as the offensive coordinator and QBs coach.

So it looks like Colorado got an experienced coach with ties to the program and Alex Grinch gets to keep working on the Sooners defense. It’s a win win for everyone.
