When it comes to recruiting in recent years Texas pretty much always “beats” Oklahoma. 247Sports ranked Texas’ recruiting class higher than OU’s in 4 out of the 5 past years (including this year). It’s obvious this doesn’t translate to success on the field for the Longhorns but it’s an edge in the rivalry that will eventually pay off for them.
Fortunately for OU they have they’re developing their own recruiting edge. Per Chad Wilson, Oklahoma is the top “out of state raider” of talent in Texas.
Recruiting in state is crucial to any program. This is particularly true for the Longhorrns who ALWAYS has a plethora of talent. If Texas continues to fail to develop players its likely more Texas recruits will side with Oklahoma. It’s only a matter of time before OU starts to lock up those top recruiting classes in the Big 12.
