COLUMBUS — The Heisman Trophy campaign and the most dominant individual season in college football is on hiatus: Chase Young is facing an indefinite suspension…Via Lettermenrow.com
…Ohio State confirmed the report on Friday morning, though exact details about the potential NCAA violation remain unclear at this point. Multiple sources have indicated that the program is optimistic that Young will be cleared to return to Buckeyes this season, but a resolution for the matter still hasn’t been reached.
This is shocking news to break as we roll into the last month of the regular season. Chase Young is arguably the best player in the entire country on the top team.
Young was coming off a dominant performance against Wisconsin and his Heisman campaign was in full swing. Not that all seems to be over.
While the details still haven’t emerged, this is a major blow to Ohio State as they look ahead to the Big Ten Championship and the playoff.
The next big question will be how Ryan Day handles losing a stud on his defense. Chase Young can’t be replaced and he is definitely going to be missed.
Hopefully they can have it resolved before the Penn State game. Maryland should be a push over even if Young remains inactive. However he will be an integral part of a playoff run next month.
