Move over Alabama, Ohio State is the official DBU.
Not only is Ohio State putting the most defensive backs in the NFL, they are sending a lot more. Everyone knows that Nick Saban is known for his work both defensive backs and just defense in general. However it is Jim Tressel, Urban Meyer and a bit of Luke Fickell molding the secondary of the NFL.
Sean Payton has to be partially to thank for all of this. Malcolm Jenkins, Marshon Lattimore, Eli Apple, Vonn Bell and Kurt Coleman all suited up for the Saints in 2019.
A surprise on the list was Virginia Tech. The Hokies have struggled as of late and have really relied on the 14 DB’s taken between 2000-2010.
For all the arguments about what school is the best at putting certain positions in the NFL, we can cross one off the list. From Nate Clements to Donte Whitner to Marshon Lattimore and Denzel Ward. Ohio State has been putting elite talent consistently in the NFL well over the last two decades.
