Texas fans should feel pretty good as 2020 recruiting comes to a close.
Texas has locked up yet another top recruiting class. According to 247Sports, Texas’ 2020 recruiting class ranked no. 9 nationally and no. 1 in the big 12. The most notable signee of this class is undoubtedly 5-star RB Bijon Robinson. Robinson is the no. 1 RB in the 2020 class and will likely have an immediate impact.
While the addition of Robinson is exciting this class is deep. The longhorns were also able to fill some current holes and lay the foundation for the future. Texas obviously needs help with the offensive line so they brought in 4 offensive lineman who all happen to be 4-stars. They also nabbed some exciting QBs for when Ehlinger moves on. Texas became the first program to sign two top-75 quarterback prospects in the same recruiting cycle since Florida landed John Brantley and Cam Newton in 2007.
This recruiting success isn’t anything new. With the exception of 2017, Texas has dominated Big 12 recruiting while repeatedly nailing top 10 classes in the nation (Per 247Sports).
Better Than OU
If that’s not enough reason to celebrate, Oklahoma had a subpar 2020 class. Per 247Sports. Oklahoma’s was ranked no. 2 in the Big 12, No. 11 nationally, and didn’t have a single 5-star. This was their lowest class in years. Oh and Texas’ 2 QB signees were ranked higher than Oklahoma’s one… Sorry QBU.
Take a victory lap and enjoy it Texas fans. This was a solid recruiting class and you outdid your rival yet again. It’s only a matter of time until dominant recruiting translates to dominant play on the field.
