Oklahoma Loses 4-Star 2020 Commit

Oklahoma had all the momentum this Independence day weekend after the commitment of elite recruit Bryson Washington. Although all momentum is not lost, the Sooners have definitely hit a bump in the road on the way to 2020.

Yesterday, 4-Star (via 247 sports) CB Dontae Manning took to Twitter to de-commit from Sooner nation.

I understand a recruit wanting to keep his options open – this is a huge decision that will impact the rest of his life. I respect his decision and I think everyone else should. With that said, I hate to see it. I think Manning is just what OU’s secondary needed, he would have been a great fit for Alex Grinch’s defense.

The loss of a 4-star defensive recruit is a hard pill to swallow but it’s not the end of the world. There is still a chance he re-commits.

“OU will still remain a top school of mine, but I feel the need to explore my options and take a closer look at other universities” – Dontae Manning

Even if he doesn’t, Alex Grinch has until 2020 to fill the void, which I’m sure he will.
