What a day for Miles Boykin at the NFL combine. When Boykin announced he would forgo his last season of eligibility, it left many wondering why and if he was ready. Boykin had a good season and always seemed to shine in clutch moments. But he also didn’t seem to be NFL ready and his numbers were not so impressive on a national scale. Then the combine happened.

Boykin came in at 6- foot 4 and 220 pounds. He ran the forty yard dash in 4.42, he posted an 11-foot, 8-inch broad jump, and recorded a 43.5-inch vertical. To sum it up, Boykin has been shocking everyone, including former teammates, with his performance.

It does shine a bit of a negative light on Ian Book. Book struggled throwing the deep ball last season. There were also multiple occasions in the playoff where Boykin beat his man but Book couldn’t get him the ball. This isn’t a bash Book blog but to show that it wasn’t on Boykin. He gambled on himself and it looks like it will pay off. I also won’t pretend like Boykin was bad by any means, he did give us moments like this.
