The 2019 Notre Dame recruiting class has been almost set for the upcoming year. While there are a few players Notre Dame is waiting to see where they choose, specifically Asa Turner, we know what to expect. The Notre Dame 2019 recruiting class was ranked eleventh at the time of the first signing day which is good. But that could be changing shortly.
I have been critical of Brian Kelly and his lack of top five recruiting classes. In college football it is important to land those big time recruits and five star players. That is something Brian Kelly has struggled to do and while he wins games, it is a major reason Notre Dame can’t compete. That may be starting to change.
Recruits Jack Kiser and Kyle Hamilton got major improvements to their recruit rankings from 247 Sports. Hamilton became a five star player and Kiser rose 481 spots. Kiser went from 672nd to 191st.
Of course Notre Dame needs them to grow, develop and produce, but this is a great first step. For Notre Dame to add pieces that are widely recognized as top 300 players means they are doing something right. The lack of five star players has also hurt so hopefully Hamilton will be a sight for sore eyes.
You don’t win the season in February, but to compete on a high level with the best teams in the country, it sure helps. Notre Dame is still waiting for Asa Turner and Isiah Foskey to round off an excellent recruiting class. Those could be two more vital pieces to get Notre Dame back in the win column during a New Years Six Bowl.
