Earlier today the Bruins placed AHL forward Colby Cave on waivers attempting to free up $675,000. The Bruins were pretty quiet about this move and its not exactly clear why. Fans speculate that the Bruins are preparing for a trade or some other acquisition that will require a roster spot. One name that has been thrown around by fans is Jakub Silfverberg, a winger from Anaheim. Silfverberg could be a good fit but we don’t know if there is any merit to this rumor. I recently had the idea that Artemi Panarin would be a good fit for Boston, but again there is no evidence this will happen. Regardless, if the Bruins are going after him, they need to clear up a lot more cap space.

The Bruins also recently picked up Paul Carey, a forward from Ottowa. This appears to be more of a depth move and I don’t think it has any connection to what’s going to happen, but you never know.

What could the Bruins be planning? Let us know what you think.
