When Notre Dame takes on Stanford tonight, it looks like Jafar Armstrong will miss the game this week with an infection in his left knee. Armstrong has been splitting time this week as the starting back. Last week against Wake forest, Armstrong ran for 98 yards on eight carries and had two touchdowns.
Even with the return of Dexter Williams, Armstrong’s absence will be felt. Armstrong is the team leader in rushing touchdowns with five, and is second on the team in rushing yards with 245 and second on the team in yards per attempt among qualifying running backs with 5.2. To add on to his rushing totals he also has seven catches for 87 yards this season. Tony Jones, Jr.should be in line to lead the Irish against Stanford with his 263 yards on 46 carries this season. This should also thrust Williams more into the spot light instead of easing back coming off his 4 game suspension.
